I sure do have amazing friends. So many who came and supported my family today. I would LOVE to thank all of you in person, but this blog post is a shout out for two BYU Cross Coutry team mates. You both made me feel like I was there running with you.
All of the pictures are from my friend Emily who woke up at 3am to get to the race, from BOSTON! Yes, BOSTON! Emily took pictures during the race, texted me before and after the race, and basically should have been wearing super woman wings. But instead she wore angel wings and wore them proud.
Then another dear friend Breanne ran also. She won the race, in perfect BYU cross country form!
Friends are blessings. Running friends are even better blessings. They are the kind of friends who you shared a locker room with for years, smelled really bad with after training runs, cried with after a bad race, rejoiced in after a good race, met each others families in strange states and cross country events, and then even after years of just facebook and emails will support each other no matter what. These are friends. Friends who I have a lot of respect and love for.
My Mom LOVED Emily and Bre. They both always made my Mom feel special. Mama Rust, that is what I remember Bre calling my Mom. I can still see them hug in my memory.
Here are some pictures that Emily took:
My dear Canyon Crest colleague, Bari, came all the way from Utah to watch the race! AMAZING!
This picture is of my brother and all his "boys." My brother too, has the BEST group of friends. These boys were my Mom's boys for sure. They treated her like a queen.

My Buddy. He is looking so old to me. It is crazy how much he looks like my Dad now.
This is Emily!
This is Bre!
This is a typical shot - My dad being a goof ball and my brother laughing at him in the background.

My Mom, wearing pink, listening to Stevie Wonder, was running also. Running with her own wings, running for joy, running in her paradise.
Love you Mama!

I'm so glad it was a success & enjoyable! I am just bummed because I had put it in my mind that is was this coming weekend & would possibly be able to stop by.
ReplyDeleteStill have to catch you the next time you are out here! (Unless you are still in NJ right now, then maybe a lunch date or park playdate isn't out of the question!)
