When I joined the LDS Church in 2000 I never thought my life would change as much as it has. The church has provided me with so many opportunities and blessings. Some of the blessings I don't realize until many many years later.
In the Fall of 2001 I transferred from UCONN to BYU. I was running for a Nationally Ranked team, and BYU Cross Country Runners were amazing. I felt honored on most days just to be at practice with the girls. I had a lot of great races, a lot of improvement over the three years I ran for BYU, and made a lot of good friends. It was a great time in my life. It was a part of my life that I will always cherish. But when I got injured and moved back to NJ for a year to recover I did loose contact with a lot of the girls. I kept some of my running friends close, and we were updated through blogs, facebook and an occasional email. Most of my good friends from my BYU days are married, and have kids of their own.
In August, right after Dexter was born, I got an email to let me know that the 1997, 1999, 2001, and 2002 teams were being inducted to the Hall of Fame. And they wanted all of the team to come in for the induction weekend.
Here are some pictures from my BYU running past:
This is a newspaper article that was published in Hopewell, NJ.
This weekend was wonderful. It is a weekend I will never forget. I am so glad Will, Max and Dexter (Who slept through most of it) was able to experience it with me.
I didn't take as many pictures as I hoped. And I am grabbing others pictures to complete my blog post from this weekend.
Hugging one of my good friends. "JK" is pregnant with her second baby boy. Her due date was the night of the banquet.
BBQ before the football game:
Will designed the "Squirrel" shirts. Coach used to call us "squirrels" when we ran so the shirt was just perfect for a reunion weekend.
Walking to the football game:
Halftime of the game:
Morning "Walk/run" with Dexter and the team:
It was such an amazing weekend. When I get more pictures I will do another post just of pictures.
I feel so blessed.
I feel so lucky to have been a part of this wonderful weekend.
I am so grateful for the LDS church and for the experiences I have been given because of the choice I made to be baptized.
