Ever since I can remember I have be plagued with horrible nightmares.
The year after Will and I got married, I had TERRORS each night. I am sure Will wasn't thinking this is how he was going to spend his first year of marriage, waking up to the screaming of his fearful wife. But Will was great, would tlak to me, help me calm down, and hold me until I would fall back asleep. They slowly went away.
I hardly have night Terrors like that anymore. We have learned some tricks to help me fall asleep and also put me back to sleep if I have a nightmare. I watch the Jetsons on our little TV in our bedroom. We put the "sleep" on and I fall asleep listening to Jane, George, Judy and Elroy.
When I am pregnant, wow, the dreams. But, sadly, the night terrors come back.
Last night I had an awful one. I don't remember much. But they always have to do with my family.
I woke up, shaking and crying, and got Will. He wasn't in bed yet. But, I made him come to bed, watch the Jetsons and calm me down.
I am not embarrassed by this at all. I have always had this problem. I have always lived with it.
My Mom also had them.
My hope is that my kids don't get them. Because they do take over your sleeping life until you get a handle on them.
On a happier note here is one of my favorite Jetson's moments, dare you NOT to sing along:
