On Tuesday we went to the BYU duck pond.
The ducks in this pond are the most spoiled ducks on the planet. But we still bring bread and have Max throw food into the pond.
Now this pond isn't the safest place for toddlers to play. They run right up to the edge, and with gravity taking over, their little heads tend to fall a little to far forward. (And in Max's case, his big head) Most parents will hold onto shirts, shorts, or hands to ensure they don't fall in. Because the fall isn't so loving there are rocks and yucky water to land upon.
On our way home this past Tuesday, a little boy, about 18 months and his sisters ran up to the pond, and what happened next was a very fast acting experience. He tumbled in the pond. Was in the water, arms and legs flailing and screaming. Will said "I am going in" and in he went. The water is about knee deep in the place this little boy fell in. Will grabbed him, handed him out of the water to me, while another couple close by grabbed the back of Max's shirt so he wouldn't fall in.
The little boys mom came running over, said "Thank you" a few dozen times and the little boy who seemed to be more scared than anything, was just fine.
Will saves the say!
I must admit it had our adrenaline running and we went over the event in our heads multiple times that night. I am glad we were there to help that little boy.
